I am headed back to the village in Sierra Leone where I worked 18 months ago to document the building of a hospital in the village of Fallah Wujah in the Jon Chiefdom near the city of Bo. The photo above shows me blending in with the village. Like most documentary photographers I do my best work when I blend into the local community and culture. One of the major challenges was that I was reported to be the first Caucasian person ever to be in the village. As such, I was a constant source of attention and fascination;especially with the children.
I will be in Sierra Leone for two weeks. The time will be split meeting with government officials in Freetown and working in the village. There was a major change in government this last year and we are approaching the government with a concept to assist in health care throughout the country.
